The first Nordic platform for performance art and hopefully the first of a series of biennale in the Nordics. This initiative is to strengthen and profile Nordic performance art as an independent discipline and to promote Nordic artists & works in an international context.
“PERFORMNORD” open call is now on-line with deadline on September 18 2026
We expect to welcome around 150 international guest programmers/producers/curators. The initiative has been taken by The Danish Arts Council and is supported by relevant Nordic national arts agencies. The concept is also inspired by the successes of “Ice Hot” and “Circus Expo”.
The international platform event will be held in Copenhagen 2-6 September 2027 and the open call is now on-line with deadline on September 18 2026. We are naturally interested in reaching out to relevant professional artists who define their work-practice as “performance based” and who have international potential and ambition. As the performance field has overlaps with contemporary dance, physical theatre, new dramaturgy, new circus, as well as the visual arts, experimental music/sound and even literature/media/architecture and as performance art does not have its “own” formal infrastructure or organisations, we are aware that relevant artists are to be found throughout the larger arts diaspora.

PERFORMNORD will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark 2-12 Sept. 2027: 2-5 sept. as a professional platform/showcase 6-12 Sept. as a public festival for performance art.
ABOUT PERFORMNORD PERFORMNORD is a Danish-Nordic initiative and is backed by Nordic national art agencies. Performance art has increasing attention internationally. Therefore, it is important to create a more sustainable and visible framework for this art form in an international context.
PERFORMNORD will invite international programmers/professionals and offer international opportunities for the Nordic performance art scene.
